Rosie and the Boys

The boys love to chase Rosie, and to get Rosie to chase them.

They can create a lot of breeze as they all run around Nana and Pa's house.

Is that camera edible?

A Maze 'n Things

A fun place to learn all about optical illusions and get lost in the wooden maze.

Hungry"? try these tasty dishes!

In the wooden maze

Feeding Emus

Not Phil or my favourite animals, those beady eyes look evil.
Alexander really wanted to feed them....after holding out food for one, he was not too keen again...they are really large sharp beaks!
The only problem was the other emus saw, and all decided they wanted some too. That was when I put the camera away, and we made a dash to the gate! We were not hanging around to be in between a group of emus....ewspecially since this one became very possessive of us and was making very frightening noises and being aggressive to the other emus..

Alexander soon changed his mind about feeding the emus!

Feeding Kangaroos and Wallabies

Feeding the wallabies and the kangaroos is always great fun.  Joeys would pop their heads out to see what was going on, but none of them would come out of their mum's pouches...(and some of them looked big enough not to be in there anymore!) Those poor Mums!!

Alexander and a kangaroo

Cameron and a kangaroo, with joey watching on...we tried to feed the joeys, but they were not interested in coming out!

Look at this Joey, almost too big for it's mum's pouch, see it's leg poking out above it's head...that cannot possibly be comfortable for Mum or Joey???

Cameron and a wallaby

How cute is this!!!

Alexander feeding the wallaby, the joey has popped it's head back in, but it's tail is still sticking out!

Wildlife Park

This is a must if you get to Phillip Island! Not much to look at from the front...but once you are inside...fabulous for that Aussie animal experience

A koala having his breakfast

3 echidnas off for a stroll

A koala stretching out his leg before he gets ready for a snooze

A Lace Monitor getting some sun

Some kangaroos looking for a feed, see the joey in the pouch too...there were heaps of joeys around, all poking their heads out to see what was happening!

Phillip Island Coast

Lots of fun on the beach....if it was warmer we would have been in there!

and then back to the apartment with sand and water in the gumboots.

Nobbies Centre

A great place to view the seals, and learn about lots of animals that live in Bass Strait and in the water ways around Phillip Island.
The "Seal Cams" were terrific to see the seals on the island off the coast. There were heaps of them along the island.

A great place to bring the kids with lots of interactive activities to do in the centre. Bring warm clothes, it is cold out there is you go for a walk!

Churchill Island

A small island off Phillip Island.  A working farm, a gorgeous old homestead, and lovely gardens.
A small animal nursery for the kids to feed and pat some animals.

Magpies flock to the table as soon as you leave looking for a bite to eat.

Guinea Pigs to pat

A filed of wheat, and the windmill was working at full speed.

Koala Park

The Koala Park was lots of fun. We had loads of fun spotting the koalas. At the clouds kept moving in front of the sun, it really made the koalas hard to spot. As it was a bit cool, most of the koalas climbed up high in the trees to catch as much sun as possible.
(click on the photo to get a closer look...my next camera will have a decent zoom lens)

Little Penguins at Sunset

Watching the little penguins waddle up from the sea to their burrows was an amazing site. They come up after the sun has set and walk in groups for safety. Some of the penguins have up to a kilometre walk up the beach to their burrows!
No pictures allowed, so we took these ones of the kids in front of the posters in the centre.

Happy 7th Birthday

Cameron's birthday is always fun in Melbourne, because he gets to have at least 3 cakes with different family and friends. Here is the cake we had with Nana and Pa.

He will have to wait to get back home before he gives this a go!

"Give me a home among the Gum Trees"

Gum Trees are great fun to play in....

You can swing on the bark like Tarzan.

Or climb up into the branches.

Can you see that the other front tooth of Cameron's has finally fallen out? Much to his amusement, he can stick chips in his mouth now without opening his mouth! I think it makes him look cheekier than usual. He thinks he looks hilarious, and says when he look at himself in the mirror, he just laughs! (hopefully the gap won't be there for too long, we can see the new teeth already!)
